I've been a Superhost for seven years, building and managing staycation properties across the North East of England under Northern Staycations. Over that time, I've used just about every booking platform and property management system going — and I kept running into the same problems.

Airbnb takes 15.5% from the host and another 3% from the guest, but neither side gets a clear picture of the real cost until after the booking is made. Booking.com charges 15% commission plus VAT — effectively 18% — then another 1.9% + 20p per transaction processing fee. The numbers never quite add up in your favour, and when you want to send a last-minute deal or a discounted offer, working out what you'll actually receive is a headache.

Then there are the PMS systems. They're fine as a backbone, but nothing special — and they certainly don't give you anything for free. Want smart pricing? That's a plugin. Want better channel management? Another monthly subscription. Want to offer dynamic discounts with full transparency on what you'll earn? Good luck.

And then there's pricing. On most platforms you set one nightly rate and that applies to everything. Say yours is £150 a night — two nights is £300, and that works. But you've got a two-night gap in your calendar and you'd happily take a one-night booking at £220 to fill part of it. You can't — because the platform only knows £150 a night, so a one-nighter is just £150. There's no way to charge more per night for shorter stays. You either block single nights entirely or accept them at a rate that doesn't cover the turnover. We built last-minute availability so hosts can offer one-nighters and short-notice stays at their own price to fill calendar gaps, without touching their standard nightly rate for longer bookings.

I wanted something flexible that sat between what Airbnb and Booking.com offer — better margins, more choice, and easier implementation without fighting with XML locks and paying for every additional feature. So I built it.
