Introduction
Ellesmere Port and the Cheshire energy corridor are emerging as one of the UK's most significant industrial decarbonisation zones — and one of the least well-served for contractor accommodation. The HyNet North West carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) cluster, centred on the Stanlow Refinery and the industrial heartland of Merseyside and Cheshire West, is bringing engineers, project managers, pipeline specialists, and process contractors to the CH65 and CH66 postcodes in growing numbers.
Alongside HyNet, the broader Cheshire Power Station project — a new flexible gas generation facility proposed by Peel NRE at a site near Ellesmere Port — adds a further wave of anticipated contractor demand to an area that has historically been underserved by short-let and professional accommodation supply.
Standard booking platforms don't serve this postcode cluster. Ellesmere Port is neither a tourist destination nor a major city: holiday let platforms have thin coverage, and what exists is optimised for leisure guests. Offer2Stay's reverse marketplace changes this: you post your requirement — the dates, your preferred area (CH65, CH66, Neston, Runcorn), your budget, your must-haves — and verified local hosts send you tailored offers. No guest fees. No scrolling through irrelevant listings.
HyNet North West: The Project Driving Contractor Demand
What Is HyNet?
HyNet North West is a major UK industrial decarbonisation cluster — a joint project involving Eni, Cadent, Progressive Energy, and a consortium of industrial partners. Its core components are:
Hydrogen production: ENI's Hynet hydrogen plant at Stanlow (Essar) will produce low-carbon hydrogen from natural gas with carbon capture, with capacity to supply industry across the North West.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS): CO2 captured from hydrogen production and from industrial emitters across Merseyside and Cheshire (including chemical plants, glass manufacturers, and refinery operations) is compressed and transported via new pipeline infrastructure to depleted gas fields in Liverpool Bay.
Pipeline network: Cadent's new HyNet pipeline running across Ellesmere Port, Runcorn, and Warrington to the Liverpool Bay CO2 storage sites represents significant civil and pipeline engineering work.
